The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission has appointed four senior officials, two with direct cryptocurrency expertise, marking a potential pivot toward more nuanced digital asset regulation. Jamie Selway, named Director of the Division of Trading and Markets, and Brian T. Daly, appointed to lead the Division of Investment, bring specialized knowledge of blockchain and traditional finance.

Daly''s background at Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP included advising on digital assets and challenging controversial banking guidance like SAB 121. The moves suggest Chairman Paul Atkins may steer the SEC toward clearer frameworks for crypto markets, addressing long-standing jurisdictional overlaps with FINRA and CFTC.
